What do all the letters and numbers mean in cabinet names? When you purchase manufactured cabinets there are some industry standard naming conventions (W2048, B36, etc). The letter W will always indicate that the cabinet is a WALL cabinet. The letter B will always indicate that the cabinet is a BASE cabinet. The numbers that follow the letters represent the width, height and depth of the cabinet. The first 2 digit number represents the width. The second 2 digit number represents the overall height of the cabinet. The third 2 digiti number repesents the depth of the cabinet. If this number is NOT present then you are to assume that the cabinet is built to STANDARD specifications (BASE cabinet is 24" deep, WALL cabinet is 12" deep). The letter D represents whether or not a cabinet has a DRAWER and if there is a number in front of the D then that tells you the number of drawers the cabinet contains. The letters ROS mean the cabinet contains ROLL OUT SHELVES. There are many other naming conventions that are individual to different maufacturers, but I tried to give the basic ones that I teach my students. |
