What is an Inset Cabinet Door?

An Inset Cabinet Door refers to the way a cabinet door is mounted to the cabinet carcass or face frame. The outer surface of the door is in the same plane (even) with the outer surface of the face frame. This is a more traditional style of cabinetmaking ad typically will cost more because of the skill involved in makng sure the door and the face frame fit perfectly together. Cabinets with Inset Cabinet Doors must be installed correctly because a cabinet that is installed twisted and/or out of square will cause the door not to fit correctly in the face frame.
